Activities organised by the residents

Suomenlinna is much like a small village where neighbours knows each other. Participating in various activities and associations is a natural part of everyday life. These activities are on display in the Väkevä Viapori residents’ festival. The residents also organise events and presentations related to the Suomenlinna Christmas event.

Boating and other activities

The activities of the associations are related to the vicinity of the sea in many ways. Boating is a popular leisure activity, and both a yacht club and  boat club operate at Suomenlinna. In the winter, members of the ice swimming society swim in the chilly waters. Versatile exercise opportunities are organised at Suomenlinna. Members of the sauna association nurture the sauna culture. There is even a small choir on the island.

The Suomenlinna Community Association

The Suomenlinna Community Association, Suomenlinnaseura ry, is the Suomenlinna residents’ association. The association publishes the Suomenlinnan Sanomat magazine four times a year.
