Hostel Suomenlinna
Hostel Suomenlinna offers accommodation in Suomenlinna throughout the year. The hostel is located just twenty steps from the main pier.
The hostel has 40 beds: 30 beds downstairs in rooms for six to ten people and 10 beds upstairs in rooms for two to three people. The room price for all rooms includes the use of the bed linen; in rooms for two to three people a towel is also included. The showers and toilet facilities are located in the corridors both up- and downstairs. The cafeteria where the breakfast buffet is served is located downstairs. The hostel’s laundry room is available for guests. There is a small self-catering kitchen upstairs for hostel guests.
The hostel welcomes both Finnish and international visitors. It is also possible to book the hostel, its rooms or hall for various groups. You can also book the entire house for wedding guests, for example, when organising a wedding at Suomenlinna. During spring and autumn, the hostel is filled with schoolchildren on field trips. The hostel is run by the Finnish Youth Centre Association.
How to get there
The Helsinki City Transport ferry operates throughout the year to Suomenlinna. The hostel is about 50 metres from the main pier.
Accessibility
The main entrance to the hostel is equipped with a stone step and a metal grid. The doorway is wide enough for a wheelchair when both of the main entrance doors are open. The threshold is low.
The building has two floors and there is no lift, but the ground floor is almost entirely accessible with a wheelchair. There are also accommodation facilities on the ground floor. The downstairs group rooms are equipped with bunk beds. The doorways have thresholds of a few centimetres, and the width of the doorways varies. The accommodation rooms are narrow for moving around with a wheelchair.
In addition to accessible accommodation, accessible toilet and shower facilities are located on the ground floor. The cafeteria is also used for meeting and educational purposes.
The accessible toilet is located apart from the other washing facilities, along a side corridor. The route is narrow in parts. The shower is located next to the toilet seat. The washing basin can be tilted. The accessible washing facilities are equipped with an alarm system for calling for help when required.
