Japanese tea room
Finland’s first traditional Japanese tea room, Tokuyûan (“Place of virtues”) is located on Susisaari island in Suomenlinna, in the red-brick casemate of the bastion Virtue.
The Japanese art of tea (chadô) is studied here and practised in the tea ceremonies according the traditional rituals. The tea room is open for groups upon request or as separately agreed.
How to get there
The Helsinki City Transport ferry operates to the main pier throughout the year, and from there the tea room is about 800 metres away. The waterbus stops at the Visitor Centre pier during summer, and the tea room is about 300 metres from there.
