Suomenlinna as part of a visit to Helsinki

YritysryhmilleThe sea fortress is a popular place to visit for both Finnish and international corporate guests. There is no better place to learn about the history of the city – or the history of Finland – than Suomenlinna, the setting of pivotal events in the history of three nations: Finland, Sweden and Russia. Including a visit to Suomenlinna in your guests’ leisure programme or combining it with a working lunch, for instance, creates a unique opportunity to experience the maritime side of Helsinki.

Aasialaisia vieraitaThe Ehrensvärd Society provides tailor-made visits to Suomenlinna which can include waterbus transport, guided walking tours and a lunch or dinner in one of Suomenlinna’s many restaurants. Guided tours are organised throughout the year in more than 15 languages. If you do not have time to take a guided walking tour, you can include a 25-minute widescreen show about the history of the fortress, organised in the Suomenlinna Museum, in your visit.

Walhalla restaurantThe maritime atmosphere and the history of the fortress create idyllic surroundings for dining. Suomenlinna offers great opportunities for organising small events in cosy cafés or big events in grand restaurants. The restaurant Walhalla, one of the city’s oldest island restaurants, is located in the fortress. Walhalla was opened in 1952 for the Helsinki Olympics. During the summer, the waterbus arrives at the King’s Gate pier. The restaurant is only a short walk from the pier, straight through the King's Gate – the symbol of the fortress.

Meetings and parties in Suomenlinna

KokoustilaThe most unique conference facilities in Helsinki can be found only 15 minutes from the city centre. The historical surroundings of the maritime fortress are the perfect setting for meetings, seminars and lectures at any time of year. The Governing Body of Suomenlinna rents nine premises, suited for anything from 12 to 240 persons. A great addition to the conference day is a guided walking tour or a widescreen show to bring the history of the fortress to life.

Function facilities dating from the 1700s and Pirunkirkko1800s have also been renovated in the fortress’s buildings for organising both corporate parties and more formal celebrations in the summer. More...

The rental cost of the premises rented by the Governing Body of Suomenlinna does not include any services, but the services of the restaurants, caterers and the Ehrensvärd Society, all of which provide programmes and conference packages, are at your disposal.
