Sveaborgsmuseet
The main attractions of the maritime fortress:

The Suomenlinna Museum covers the history of the 260-year-old fortress, the dry dock and the life of Russian soldiers and civilians living in the garrison town. The permanent exhibition displays utilities, tools, weapons and ammunition that have been uncovered in excavations and attics on Suomenlinna.

The entrance fee includes the Suomenlinna Experience widescreen show, which is shown in the auditorium every half hour. The show covers the building of the fortress and the Swedish Coastal Fleet, naval battles fought around the fortress and life in the garrison town.

Audio commentary for the 25-minute show is available through headphones in Finnish, Swedish, English, German, French, Russian, Japanese and Spanish.

Yksityiskohta Suomenlinna-museossa

Did you know?

The Suomenlinna Museum is located at the Visitor Centre, in a navy inventory chamber completed in 1780.

The inventory chamber and its round wooden shed were built during 1778–1783 as navy equipment storage. The buildings were probably designed by Fredrik af Chapman, who also designed the Swedish Coastal Fleet.
