Café Piper
This summer café, located on a small hillock in an English-type garden, offers a grand view onto the Gulf of Finland from its terrace. The site previously hosted two gazebos and a Roman Catholic chapel.
The current café building was constructed in 1928 and has operated as a café ever since. Piper offers a soup of the day as well as small snacks, refreshments, beer and wine.
Private events for groups of up to 40 people can be organised in the café. Group menus for student groups as well as picnic baskets can be ordered upon request.
How to get there
The waterbus stops at the Visitor Centre pier during summer. The restaurant is about 300 metres from the pier. The Helsinki City Transport ferry operates to the main pier throughout the year, and from there the café is about 1 kilometre away.
Accessibility
The café is located in a park, on a hillock, but along the wheelchair route. The road leading to the park is on a gentle uphill slope. There is a staircase at the entrance. Some tables on the park terrace can be accessed with a wheelchair.
