This small and idyllic café is located in the old Russian merchants’ quarter opposite the Suomenlinna Church.Café Vanille

Café Vanille's teraceSeasonal snacks and sweet pastries, cakes, soups and sandwiches are on offer. The menu also includes special coffees, brewed teas, chocolate, beer and cider.

Food and drinks for meetings and parties can be ordered from Vanille for the meeting and event venues on the island. Picnic baskets can also be ordered from the café.

How to get there

The Helsinki City Transport ferry operates to the main pier throughout the year, and from there the café is about 200 metres away. The waterbus stops at the Visitor Centre pier during summer, and the café is about 300 metres from there.

There is a staircase at the entrance to the café.

Did you know?

During the Russian period, shops, storages, a bakery, a pub and a liquor store operated in the merchants’ quarter.

After independence, various cafés, a photographer's studio, a kindergarten, a cobbler’s shop and a hair salon have operated here.
