Current information to visitors (covid-19)

Services in Suomenlinna have gradually reopened with required safety precautions from 1 June.

Suomenlinna offers a vast range of activities for many visits to come! Welcome to enjoy local services and visit our beautiful World Heritage Site!

Opening hours of services

There are six museums, fourteen restaurants and cafés, arts and crafts studios, a hostel, guided walking tours and much more to discover at the fortress.

We recommend you follow our opening hours and events calendar where local service providers update their opening hours. You can also follow the service providers’ own channels to get the updated information.

We serve you responsibly

All service providers in Suomenlinna are committed to ensuring their customer service will be carried out safely. The premises will be cleaned more frequently, visitor numbers will be limited, and staff safety will be taken care of with plexiglasses installed at counters. There will also be antiseptic hand rub at your disposal.

Ferries and waterbuses to operate with safety in mind

Suomenlinna is only accessible by water. Therefore, the public transport ferries (HSL) and JT-Line waterbuses will take good care of the safety of their passengers and personnel on board.

HSL monitors passenger numbers and official guidelines related to the pandemic carefully. The number of passengers will be reduced until further notice. You can reach Suomenlinna daily from Helsinki Market Square. During business days (Mon-Fri) you can also reach Suomenlinna with the service ferry from Katajanokka. On board the service ferry, there is a lot more space on deck. More info about HSL ferries.

JT-Line waterbuses operate to Suomenlinna, Lonna and Vallisaari. Only a limited number of passengers will be allowed on board at a time to ensure passenger safety.

On board the ferry and the waterbus, you also have the possibility to enjoy the crisp sea air on deck.

Help us act responsibly

We ask all visitors to follow instructions related to the coronavirus situation. Let’s keep the necessary safety distances and take care of good hand hygiene! We recommend paying by card instead of cash at any of the services.

Here you can find updated information and instructions on the coronavirus pandemic published by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare.

Large public events will not be organised in Suomenlinna. There is plenty of outdoor space to move around at the fortress, and smaller events will be possible from June onwards.

Events organised at the fortress will be added to our opening hours and events calendar.

Conference and Banquet Facilities

As of 1 June, it will be possible again to rent conference and banquet facilities. The maximum number of persons to attend any gatherings will be communicated as soon as we have received the guidelines defined by the Government and the Regional State Administrative Agencies.

Functions for over 50 persons already booked for the summer 2020 (May-September) can be rescheduled or cancelled without charge. The customers concerned will receive instructions personally on how to proceed.
