Exhibition: h m ouramo: soft fortress

In January, a new pair of contemporary art exhibitions open in Helsinki Artists’ Association’s HAA Gallery: h m ouramo: soft fortress, and Tero Juuti: Focus – katse kauas ja lähelle (look far and close, writer’s translation).

h m ouramo’s soft fortress is an attempt to study resistance, reluctance and approaching, and the bodily resources that such actions and attitudes generate. The exhibited works are experiments to study histories of display and notions of the body based on anatomy and ergonomics. Bodies are interconnected in countless ways. Some can be seen, others recognised. How can the unknown be? How the body is imagined is related to the perception of boundaries and categorisations. The body might equal the contours of assumption; how the human body is understood is closely related to perceptions of limits, ability, presence, security and familiarity.
