From the War Hospital to Civilian Life – a photography exhibition about the will power of disabled war veterans
Five disabled veterans, five stories of injury, rehabilitation and life after war.
The disabled veterans were united by will power – there was no other option but to cope with the disability. It may have meant a wooden leg, learning a new profession or getting used to living with blindness. Despite difficulties they survived. For support they had each other and the society they founded in the year 1940 – the Disabled War Veterans Association of Finland.
The exhibition From the War Hospital to Civilian Life is running at the Militay Museum’s Manege from May 11 to September 30.
