Tea Gathering Tango-no-sekku chakai in tea room Tokuyûan
Boys’ Day Tea Gathering on Sunday May 5th 2019
In Japan, the 5th day of the 5th month is traditionally celebrated as the Boys’ Day, one of five annual seasonal festivals, but nowadays it is also known as the Children’s Day (Kodomo no hi), celebrating children’s individual personalities, and wishing them happiness in their lives. Traditionally Japanese carp-shaped koinobori flags are flown, one for each family member. Iris flowers are also celebrated, and the day can also be named after them (ayame-no-sekku).
At the tea room Tokuyûan we will celebrate children and especially boys on Sunday May 5th. The tea gathering is open for anyone interested in the art of tea, or Japanese culture, and previous experience of tea is not necessary. Welcome!
