The world’s heritage is considered to be the common property of all of humanity, and therefore protecting it is a responsibility shared by all countries of the world. Suomenlinna was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1991 to preserve it for future generations as an example of 18th century fortress architecture in Europe.
