Service vehicles and cycling

Suomenlinna is a car-free zone where only service vehicles are allowed. If you are, say, organising an event or need to transport goods, you can bring your vehicle to Suomenlinna on an HSL ferry or on the service boat which leaves from the Katajanokka wharf. The speed limit in Suomenlinna is 20 km/h (12 mph) and parking is allowed only in designated areas. A map of approved driving routes and parking spaces is available from the Suomenlinna website’s section Maps. The Suomenlinna service tunnel is reserved for emergency vehicles only.

Transporting a bicycle on a ferry is subject to a charge. Cycling is allowed on the streets only. All earthworks in Suomenlinna are protected fortification structures. They are extremely susceptible to erosion. Cycling on the earthworks is prohibited.
