A sustainable tourism strategy for Suomenlinna

Suomenlinna’s conservation efforts are guided by a sustainable tourism strategy. Together with its stakeholders, the Governing Body of Suomenlinna has created a sustainable tourism strategy that serves the dual objectives of site conservation and tourism development. The strategy was prepared with the aim of making Suomenlinna a model destination for sustainable tourism. The strategy provides an instrument and common guidelines that help conserve its World Heritage value.

Suomenlinna’s first sustainable tourism strategy was drawn up between 2015 and 2020. The current strategy is a shorter-term update that will act as a bridge to post-pandemic tourism at the World Heritage Site from 2021 to 2023.
